Find a trusted tax adviser
A tax adviser is a financial expert with advanced training and knowledge of tax law. You would normally appoint a tax adviser in complicated financial situations where you want to minimise the tax you pay, while remaining compliant with the law.
An adviser’s primary duty is to ensure compliance with the law. It is the taxpayer’s responsibility to ensure that returns made to the tax authorities are correct and complete. Advisers have statutory duties of disclosure where they suspect criminal activity.
